What we stop, and what you should never do

The rules below are enforced by the product, not left to your judgement. The first one is the only one that matters if you read nothing else.

Never send money. For any reason.

Matrimonial fraud in India almost always follows the same shape: weeks of warm, attentive conversation, then a sudden emergency — a hospital bill, a parcel stuck at customs, a visa fee, an investment that closes tonight. The story is designed to make refusing feel unkind.

No genuine match will ever ask you for a transfer, a UPI ID, bank details, an OTP, or a payment on their behalf. If it happens, it is a scam — regardless of how long you have been talking, how much they have told you, or how much you like them.

What the firewall actually does

A scam, in the order it arrives. Step through it and watch what happens to each message.

Your answers about family were the first ones that sounded like mine.

Nothing fires. Most messages are just messages, and a firewall that flags this one would be ignored by the time it mattered.

Every rule named above is real — off_platform_early, fin_emergency, fin_send_money, fin_upi and fin_hinglish are seeded in the database and run on every message before it is delivered. The conversation is written for this page; the rules it trips, and the severity each one carries, are checked against the live rule set by a test rather than typed here.

What we actually do

Mechanisms, not reassurances.

What verification means — and what it does not

This is the part most platforms are vague about.

When we say a mobile number is verified, we mean someone entered a code sent to it. When we say identity is verified, we mean a document was checked against a name. That is all it means.

Verification does not tell you whether someone is kind, honest, actually single, or serious about marriage. We will never describe anyone as “100% genuine” or “trusted”, because we have no way to know that, and telling you otherwise would make you less careful at exactly the wrong moment.
